Global Mobility: Inheritance and family law

08.01.2024 | FGS Event

We are looking forward to welcoming you to the fourth session of our event series “Global mobility – A legal & tax journey for private clients” on 8 January 2024. This comprehensive series is particularly tailored to the needs and interests of family-owned businesses and private clients.

In the fourth session, we’ll be examining the inheritance law and family law issues that arise in connection with moving away from Germany. Global mobility also means moving to a different legal system, which regulates claims arising under inheritance law and family law. The personal and financial consequences can be unexpected. That’s why it’s important to consider not only the statutory regulations in the state of entry, but also any existing nuptial agreements, inheritance agreements, waivers of compulsory portion, and other testamentary dispositions. Everything that has been agreed and decreed under German law may be judged differently and with different results under foreign law. It’s crucial to take this into account.

Our speakers:

Dr Michael Holtz is a certified lawyer for inheritance law and tax law. He advises private clients and owners of family businesses on all aspects of succession planning.

Britta Heydecke is a certified lawyer for family law with particular expertise in domestic and foreign nuptial agreements and contentious and non-contentious divorces.

The event takes place from 18:00–19:00.
