Flick Gocke Schaumburg welcomed a new addition to its Corporate Litigation/Corporate Law department in Bonn on October 1, 2015. Dr. Matthias Schatz, LL.M. joins the firm as an associated partner from Meilicke Hoffmann & Partner.

Schatz, 39, will be part of Flick Gocke Schaumburg’s Dispute Resolution/Arbitration team, which is headed by Dr. Lambertus Fuhrmann. His areas of specialism include the in-court and out-of-court settlement of shareholder disputes, legal action concerning the liability of public bodies, and post-M&A disputes. He also advises family-owned businesses on conflict prevention and supports companies in questions of corporate law and stock corporation law.

Schatz studied law in Bonn and completed a Master’s degree at Harvard Law School. In addition to being admitted to the bar in Germany, he qualified as an attorney-at-law in New York in 2011. He took up his first position as a lawyer at an international law firm in Cologne in 2009. In 2010 he joined Meilicke Hoffmann & Partner in Bonn, where he was appointed partner in 2014.

“We are very pleased to be joined by Matthias Schatz, who is a highly qualified corporate lawyer with extensive experience in litigation,” reports Fuhrmann. “In response to growing client demand, we are expanding our activities in dispute resolution. The arrival of Dr. Schatz marks an important step for us in this expansion” comments Professor Thomas Rödder, Chairman of Flick Gocke Schaumburg.

Schatz states: “Flick Gocke Schaumburg has an outstanding reputation. With its team of lawyers, tax advisors, and auditors, it stands for in-depth expertise and interdisciplinary excellence. I am delighted that I will be supporting the firm not only with corporate litigation, but also with corporate law and stock corporation law.”
