JUVE HANDBUCH 2022/2023: Flick Gocke Schaumburg named as leading law firm in “succession/private wealth/foundations”, and “criminal tax law”

The latest JUVE Handbuch Wirtschaftskanzleien 2022/2023 has once again awarded Flick Gocke Schaumburg the highest rank – five stars each – for the areas of “succession/private wealth/foundations” and “criminal tax law”. The firm has been the undisputed leader in such league tables for many years.

JUVE publishes a separate handbook on tax law, the focus of Flick Gocke Schaumburg’s tax-centric legal services. Here, the firm leads the rankings every year and is 2022’s Law Firm of the Year for group law.*

JUVE gave the following reason for the ranking in “succession/private wealth/foundations”: “None of its competitors has such a highly respected, broadly positioned practice that is present in so many large family offices, family businesses and not-for-profit/tax-exempt organizations as this large tax-focussed law firm. The sheer size of the practice group demonstrates its exceptional position, as does the multitude of its recognized personalities. (…)“

As in previous years, Prof. Dr. Frank Hannes, Dr. Christian von Oertzen and Prof. Dr. Andreas Söffing are highlighted as “leading advisors to entrepreneurs and high-net-worth individuals” and Prof. Dr. Stephan Schauhoff as a “leading advisor on foundations”.

It gave the following evaluation of Flick Gocke Schaumburg in criminal tax law: “The tax-focussed law firm has long been one of the leading players in criminal tax law. This is due to its high reputation with regard to substantive tax law, which forms the core of its criminal tax law advice and enables it to cover relevant topics very broadly. (…)“

JUVE rates Flick Gocke Schaumburg with three stars each in corporate law and M&A, with two stars each in investment funds - fund structuring and private equity mid-cap and with one star each in the areas of labor law, investment funds - fund supervision and investments, competition and antitrust law, and venture capital.

As in previous years, Flick Gocke Schaumburg has firmly established itself among the leading law firms with three stars in the national Top 50 overview. JUVE explains: “Year after year, the traditional Bonn law firm’s success continues. Its growth is based on the entire breadth of its multidisciplinary setup, and not only on tax law and tax consulting. (…)“

In the region-by-region analysis, JUVE has placed the firm in first place and awarded it five stars for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. This year, the handbook again names Prof. Dr. Thomas Rödder as being among the “leading consultants” in the region. The offices in Frankfurt and Berlin each achieve two stars.
