Flick Gocke Schaumburg is again “Law Firm of the Year for Succession/Private Wealth/Foundations”. By bestowing the “Law Firm of the Year” award, legal publisher JUVE recognizes particularly strong developments in law firms in the preceding year. The private-client team at Flick Gocke Schaumburg had previously won the title in 2010 and 2006. The awards were presented and announced during the JUVE Awards Gala held at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt on October 23.

Given the growing importance of succession issues, Flick Gocke Schaumburg has consistently expanded its succession/private wealth/foundations practice area for quite some time. In October 2013, the firm recruited as a partner Professor Andreas Söffing, another leading private-client advisor. Throughout Germany, the team today numbers approximately 25 lawyers and tax consultants, including 13 partners.

The JUVE editorial staff gave the following reasons for the award:

“Flick Gocke Schaumburg’s comfortable lead over the rest of the field since 2013 has made it virtually impossible to catch in the foreseeable future. The firm has traditionally had the largest number of established specialists and held the strongest market position in the private-client segment and the practice area of foundations. Now it has stepped up its game in every respect. Through the arrival of Professor Andreas Söffing plus his two-man team from King & Wood Mallesons SJ Berwin, FGS arranged one of the most spectacular moves on the scene in many years. Andreas Söffing brings with him a clientele more strongly focused on the executive boards of stock-listed corporations than FGS’s existing clients. He is also viewed as one of the private-client advisors most successful at acquiring new clients. He promises to be the perfect addition to the Frankfurt team around the firm’s front runner in succession planning, Dr. Christian von Oertzen. Moreover, the Bonn succession specialists Dr. Bernd Noll and Professor Frank Hannes have notched up another successful year. The appointment of Dr. Johannes Baßler as an equity partner last year again demonstrated that – despite lateral hires – FGS is looking for the outstanding advisors of tomorrow within its own ranks. And indeed finding them.”

The succession/private wealth/foundations award continues a series of accolades: Flick Gocke Schaumburg was named “Law Firm of the Year” in 2013, awarded the title “Corporate Law Firm of the Year” in 2012 and became “Tax Law Firm of the Year” in 2011, 2006 and 2003, winning the title for succession/private wealth/foundations in 2010 and 2006.
