Flick Gocke Schaumburg Recruits Professor Norbert Herzig as Of Counsel

Professor Norbert Herzig joined the Bonn office of Flick Gocke Schaumburg as Of Counsel on May 1, 2013. Until recently, Mr. Herzig was Director of the Tax Seminar at the University of Cologne.

Norbert Herzig holds a degree in business administration and is qualified as a tax consultant and auditor. Prior to his university career, he worked for a medium-sized audit firm as an auditor and audit manager. In 1984, he became a professor at RWTH Aachen University. In 1991, he was offered a professorship at the University of Cologne, where, until recently, he held the chair of business administration and business taxation and was Director of the Tax Seminar. In November 2012, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Freiburg.

From 2004 to 2010, Norbert Herzig was Vice-President of the Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft für Betriebswirtschaft and was chairman of its working group on corporate taxation until 2012. He is a member of the tax committee of the German Institute of Public Auditors and honorary chairman of the German Institute of Certified Tax Consultants.

Norbert Herzig’s areas of specialization include, in particular, business taxation, corporate reorganizations, M&A and business succession, accounting as well as international tax issues.
