Flick Gocke Schaumburg, which is currently establishing a new office in Hamburg, has recruited a new Of Counsel for the Hamburg team. The renowned tax and corporate lawyer Hans-Henning Bernhardt joins the firm as of July 1, 2015.

Bernhardt headed the tax department of Beiersdorf AG from 1984 to 2013. In 1999 he was appointed General Counsel of the legal department and assumed responsibility for corporate compliance matters. His areas of specialization include national and international corporate tax law, the reorganization of group structures, and corporate law/M&A. He is an active member of the tax committees of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and the Federation of German Industries.

“We are delighted that Hans-Henning Bernhardt will be joining our new office in Hamburg,” states Professor Thomas Rödder, the Managing Partner of Flick Gocke Schaumburg. “With his many years of experience in tax law and corporate law, and his excellent network in the market, he will be a valuable asset to our team there.”

Bernhardt states: “Flick Gocke Schaumburg’s reputation and its broad base of discerning clients naturally make it an appealing firm to work with in an advisory capacity. On a personal level I have had close contact with the firm for many years. The opening of the new office in Hamburg is what prompted me to join FGS as an Of Counsel.”

Flick Gocke Schaumburg plans to open its Hamburg office with a team of around 20 associates in August 2015. It will be the firm’s fifth office in Germany.
