Flick Gocke Schaumburg advises Meyer Burger on the issue of a green convertible bond

Flick Gocke Schaumburg has provided tax advice to Meyer Burger Technology AG, Thun (Switzerland), on the issue of a green, senior, unsecured, guaranteed convertible bond to its German subsidiary MBT Systems GmbH. Meyer Burger has placed the bond with an aggregate principal amount of EUR 216.3 million and a term until 2029. The bond will be issued by the issuer and guaranteed by the company.

The net proceeds from the bond issue will be used to finance and/or refinance investments in eligible green projects as defined by the company’s Green Financing Framework of June 2021.

Meyer Burger is a leading international technology company that specializes in innovative production systems for the photovoltaic (solar) market and manufactures its own photovoltaic cells and modules. Meyer Burger operates research centers in Thun and Hauterive (Switzerland) and production and development facilities for machine industrialization in Hohenstein-Ernstthal (Germany). It manufactures high-performance solar cells and solar modules at its sites in Bitterfeld-Wolfen and Freiberg (Germany). Development has started on a solar module manufacturing facility in the USA.
