We hope you can join us for the seventh session of our event series “Global mobility – A legal & tax journey for private clients” on 8 April 2024. This comprehensive series is particularly tailored to the needs and interests of family-owned businesses and private clients.

Germans wanting to emigrate are faced with obstacles in the form of tax regulations, especially when it comes to exit taxation. Italy sees things a little differently. It actively tries to attract highly qualified people by offering attractive tax incentives. After we have outlined the general tax framework for relocating to Italy and the conditions for establishing a residence there, we will explore specific regulations found in Italian tax law. These include flat-rate taxation, tax exemptions for highly qualified employees and freelancers, and a substitute tax applied to foreign income for pension recipients relocating to regions in southern Italy.

Our speakers:

Dr Carsten Quilitzsch, partner and tax advisor, is based in our offices in Bonn and Düsseldorf. His main area of expertise lies in international tax law. He regularly advises entrepreneurs, private individuals and high-net-worth private clients on relocation issues and cross-border wealth and succession planning. His expertise extends to structuring solutions involving foundations and other asset structures, with a particular emphasis on Italy.

Dr Robert Frei is a partner at the law firm Mayr, Fort, Frei in Milan. He specializes in international tax law, focusing on issues related to the cross-border taxation of individuals and businesses, especially in the context of the Italy-Germany relationship.

The event takes place from 18:00-19:00.
