Global Mobility – Focus on Austria – Austrian family foundations: pitfalls and opportunities

07.05.2024 | FGS Event

We hope you can join us for the eighth session of our event series “Global mobility – A legal & tax journey for private clients” on 7 May 2024. This comprehensive series is particularly tailored to the needs and interests of family-owned businesses and private clients.

Our webinar will focus on the legal and tax law features of private foundations in Austria, and explain how these foundations are seen from a German perspective. Using case studies, we will examine scenarios in which an Austrian foundation can be strategically utilised, as well as presenting the potential tax risks in Germany.

Our speakers:

Dr Tanja Schienke-Ohletz advises clients on cross-border inheritance tax planning and on the cross-border relocation of high-net-worth private clients. In addition, she deals with the legal and tax aspects of domestic and foreign family foundations and estates, offering insights into the German perspective on structures such as the Anglo-American trust.

Dr Nikola Leitner-Bommer is a lawyer and partner at LeitnerLaw Rechtsanwälte (Edthaler Leitner-Bommer Schmieder & Partner Rechtsanwälte GmbH). She advises private clients on wealth planning in both corporate and personal contexts, particularly with cross-border succession planning factors. She supports clients in private foundation law and corporate law, specifically in establishing private-benefit or non-profit foundations, and in all matters concerning foundation law.

Mag. Katrin Chladek is a lawyer and director at LeitnerLaw Rechtsanwälte (Edthaler Leitner-Bommer Schmieder & Partner Rechtsanwälte GmbH). She assists private clients with cross-border succession planning, and advises on private foundation law and real estate law.

Dr Yvonne Schuchter-Mang is a tax advisor and partner at LeitnerLeitner. She specialises in foundation tax law and advises high-net-worth private clients on both domestic and international tax law, particularly in connection with cross-border succession planning, private wealth structuring and international mobility.

The event takes place from 18:00-19:00.
