Dr Jörg Frick is to join Flick Gocke Schaumburg as Of Counsel. The renowned criminal tax lawyer will be supporting the firm's new office in Stuttgart, which opens at the end of May 2019.

Flick Gocke Schaumburg is set to open an office in Stuttgart at the end of May 2019. Partner Jesco Idler and associated partner Dr Sven Kluge will be moving from Bonn to Stuttgart to establish the firm’s seventh office in Germany. Further advisors from the Bonn office, including partners Dr Karsten Randt, Dr Jörg Schauf, Dr Holger Dietrich and Dr Jens Eggenberger, will be working temporarily in Stuttgart.

A consortium of bidders from the German KRAH Group and Korean HyoSeong Electric will acquire the business operations of insolvent HKR Seuffer Automotive. KRAH will acquire a 50% stake in the Chinese joint venture Shanghai Krah Seuffer Electronics Co Ltd. The transaction is expected to be completed in April 2019. Flick Gocke Schaumburg advised KRAH on the structured M&A process from a legal and tax perspective and took care of the tax and financial due diligence.

EWE AG has successfully completed the second phase of its model, first introduced in 2013, for the participation of local authorities in the power grids operated by EWE NETZ GmbH. A Flick Gocke Schaumburg team led by Bonn partner Michael Erkens advised EWE on all aspects of corporate and capital markets law, including the coordination with BaFin, the financial regulator in Germany.

Major German press wholesalers leverdy, Wilhelm Schmitz, PMG, and Keppel have merged to form QTRADO GmbH & Co. KG with effect from January 1, 2019. The German Federal Cartel Office had already approved the merger without conditions in July 2018. QTRADO will commence operations in April 2019. A team of Flick Gocke Schaumburg in Bonn advised leverdy on the transaction, including the overall coordination of the merger documentation and the application for the binding ruling.
