Professional separation management
The ‘Trennungsmanager’ separation manager app offers checklists and odds calculators for an amicable separation
The parting of ways between an employer and employee is always a difficult issue. The reasons are emotional, legal, and financial, too. The separation manager app, developed by Kienbaum Consultants, Flick Gocke Schaumburg and software developer Cetonis, is the perfect tool to close the gap between reality and demand. For the first time, HR managers can now learn about the most important steps in a separation using a smartphone app.
According to a Kienbaum study, 81 percent businesses surveyed are convinced that professional separation management has a positive impact on the remaining employees’ commitment and confidence in the company. However, only 21 percent of businesses surveyed have a clearly defined separation strategy. According to 66 percent of the respondents, managers who have to conduct separation interviews are not systematically prepared for this.
Transparency in separation management
“In a professional separation, transparency is the key to a successful and fair process – for both sides,” says Dr. Tobias Nießen, partner at Flick Gocke Schaumburg in Bonn. “But to achieve an amicable separation, employees need reliable knowledge about their financial situation and opportunities on the labor market.”
That’s why employees often first focus on tax and social security questions: How will leaving the company affect my finances? What benefits are available to me? When and how am I covered by health insurance? How can I make the best financial use of my compensation package? “Employees need certainty and transparency about their financial situation in order to make an informed decision for an amicable separation,” explains Nießen.
How can the app help you?
Employers can use the separation manager app to calculate the chances of an amicable separation, taking certain factors into account. For example, advising employees on their prospects early on – before the termination agreement is signed – speeds up agreement and enables employees to pursue new career opportunities sooner.
The separation manager app is available from the Apple App Store and Google Play (search for Trennungsmanager-App). It offers an overview of separation strategies and processes, new placement, and useful information relating to employment law, tax law, and social security law. Users can configure various scenarios, enabling them to better assess the opportunities and risks associated with separation management.
