Flick Gocke Schaumburg announces six new partners

Flick Gocke Schaumburg is promoting six colleagues to partnership, with a further eighteen becoming associated partners. Effective January 1, 2025, the 24 appointments underscore the firm’s ongoing expansion. All appointees come from within the firm.

The new partners are:

Dr. Karl Broemel (tax law, Hamburg), Dr. Matthias Heusel (corporate law/M&A, Stuttgart), Dr. Karsten Lorenz (tax law, Bonn), Dr. Frieder Mörwald (tax law, Bonn), Dr. Sandy Siegfanz-Strauß (labor and employment law, Bonn), Martin Werneburg (tax criminal law and white-collar crime, Berlin).

Additionally, Flick Gocke Schaumburg has appointed Stephanie Gies (tax advisor and auditor, Bonn) and Florian Remig (tax advisor and auditor, Hamburg) as managing directors of Flick Gocke Schaumburg GmbH Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft, also effective January 1, 2025. Meanwhile, Michael Pospischil (tax advisor, Bonn) is promoted to be the compliance department’s first ever director. This new role opens up a clear career path for tax compliance advisors, acknowledging their substantial client and management responsibilities.

This year’s appointments mean Flick Gocke Schaumburg now boasts a total of 97 partners and 95 associated partners.

New partners from 2025:

Dr. Karl Broemel is a tax advisor specializing in corporate and group tax law with a focus on reorganizations and real estate tax law. He is also an expert in real estate transfer tax.

Dr. Matthias Heusel is a lawyer advising in corporate law, in particular in stock corporation law, reorganization law, capital market law, and on M&A transactions.
 He supports strategic investors and family-owned businesses on acquisitions and sales as well as in bidding procedures, and start-ups and investors in venture capital transactions.

Dr. Karsten Lorenz is a lawyer, certified tax lawyer, a tax advisor and Diplom-Volkswirt. He advises in particular high net-worth individuals and family-owned companies, specializing in the tax aspects of business succession and wealth planning, as well as in inheritance law, foundation law and association law.

Dr. Frieder Mörwald is a tax advisor specializing in corporate and group tax law. He advises clients on corporate reorganizations, M&A and real estate transactions, and on special issues relating to real estate transfer tax.

Dr. Sandy Siegfanz-Strauß is a lawyer who advises domestic and internationally operating corporate groups and enterprises, as well as board members, on all areas of labor and employment law. Her main areas of expertise include M&A transactions including post-merger integration, structuring, and advising on codetermination rights.

Martin Werneburg is a lawyer, tax advisor and specialist in criminal law. He advises and defends individuals and enterprises on all aspects of tax criminal law. He also advises clients on supplementary declarations and voluntary disclosures in relation to crypto assets and other areas.
