Renowned private equity experts join Flick Gocke Schaumburg’s M&A practice

Flick Gocke Schaumburg is making strategic moves to expand its private equity division. Dr. Niels Maier (43) will join the firm’s Hamburg office as a partner on January 1, 2026, joined by associates Moritz Rojek and Konstantin Klein.

Dr. Maier is currently a partner at the Hamburg-based private equity boutique Renzenbrink & Partner. He specializes in advising financial investors, managers and founders on company acquisitions and sales, buy-backs and management participations, and corporate law issues.

“Our M&A practice has developed dynamically in recent years,” reports Prof. Matthias Rogall, Managing Partner at Flick Gocke Schaumburg. “Today, FGS is one of the established names in the small and mid-cap segment, with a particular focus on private equity and venture capital. Dr. Niels Maier is an experienced M&A expert who, together with his team, will drive forward the strategic expansion of our market position in this area.”

The firm’s approximately 70-strong M&A practice regularly advises on domestic and cross-border M&A transactions. Thanks to the integration of tax law, corporate and commercial law, auditing and valuation into an interdisciplinary advisory approach, clients are advised comprehensively from a single source. The team has extensive experience in the entire transaction cycle, including complex corporate succession planning that involves financial investors. The firm’s long-standing clients include family enterprises, family offices, corporate groups and, for some years now, private equity and venture capital investors, whom Flick Gocke Schaumburg regularly advises on buy-and-build transactions, for example in specialized software markets.
