We will take a closer look at the tax framework for moving to Portugal. Following an overview of the main features of income taxation in Portugal, we will discuss Gemany's exit tax in relation to Portugal. A key focus will be on the Portuguese special taxation regime for "non-habitual tax residents" which underwent a comprehensive reform as of 1 January 2024.
Our speaker:
Dr. Christian Vandersmissen is an associated partner at Flick Gocke Schaumburg's Berlin office. He regularly advises companies private individuals on national and international tax law. One of his main areas of expertise is found in providing tax advice for clients wishing to relocate particularly in relation to Portugal.
Mafalda Moreira is a principal associate at the Porto office of Garrigues. She has extensive experience in advising on taxes and the restructuring the assets of private clients, particularly high-net-worth individuals. She also provides day-to-day tax advice to companies and private individuals, including in the areas of tax disputes and compliance.
