In this session we’ll be examining the legal and tax frameworks for relocating to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). As a first in its history, the UAE introduced federal corporate tax in June 2023. We will provide an introduction to this and highlight the tax implications associated with relocating there from a German perspective. We will also focus on individual legal issues relating to wealth and succession planning. The event will be rounded off with some practical aspects of residence, work permits and labour law in the UAE.
Our speakers:
Dr. Nils Häck is a partner at Flick Gocke Schaumburg in Bonn. He advises mainly private clients and family-owned businesses on domestic and foreign tax law, specialising in advising clients on relocating. He is the author of numerous publications, especially on exit taxation. Dr. Häck is also a lecturer in international tax law at the University of Mannheim.
Dr. Constantin Frank-Fahle, LL.M. is a co-founder of emltc, a law and tax advisory firm with offices in the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia, and East Africa. He is a qualified lawyer and was admitted to the bar in Germany in 2012. Since then, he has worked for law firms in Berlin, Jakarta, Munich, Bangkok, and Dubai. Dr. Frank-Fahle’s expertise includes the comprehensive legal and tax structuring of foreign investments.
Andreas Heinrich, LL.M. oec. is Counsel at emltc. He was admitted to the bar in Germany in 2011 and became a certified tax advisor in 2020. Before joining emltc, he was an associated partner at Flick Gocke Schaumburg in Bonn. Dr. Heinrich mainly advises clients on UAE tax law and is also frequently appointed as an arbitrator in domestic and international arbitral proceedings.
